Raul Kohli is an award-winning Newcastle-based comedian, writer and performer, raised in the North East and forged in its proud tradition of taking the piss out of absolutely everything.
Described by The Guardian as a ★★★★★ comedian, Raul has performed across the world, earning nominations for the Edinburgh Fringe ISH Award and Best International Debut at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
His comedy mixes sharp political and social observation with history, storytelling and the distinctly Geordie habit of refusing to take anything—or anyone—too seriously.
Alongside stand-up, Raul writes and produces comedy shows exploring history, identity and the North East, digging into the extraordinary stories that have shaped Tyneside and the wider region.
His work has been called “Beautifully Written & Achingly Funny” by A Youngish Perspective and “Genius” by The Simpsons writer Mike Reiss. He has also, importantly, been described as producing “the worst comedy I have ever seen” by EdFringeReview.
