Art as a Way of Knowing Who You Are

An Instinctive Art Workshop with Zara Waters

Across cultures and eras, art has always been a way humans have gained insight.

This half day workshop led by our co-founder Zara Waters honours these ancient ways of seeing and offers you a deeper guided experience of instinctive art and the insight that can emerge through creating.

Drawing on her background in art, pyschotherapy and mindfulness, she will guide you through a layered creative process using colour, texture, symbol and image, helping you move beyond overthinking and into a more instinctive way of artistic expression.

Over the course of the workshop, you will create a finished piece of artwork that holds personal meaning for you, with space to explore the feelings, insight, unexpected connections and personal themes that emerge through the art you have created.

The workshop takes place within the OXYGENIC art studio, with access to a wide range of materials including acrylics, inks, pastels, charcoal and mixed media.

Throughout the process, you will be guided in how to work with the materials and explore different ways of creating. And as your artwork emerges, we will explore what it may be showing you about yourself, your experiences and the themes that may be shaping your life in ways you had not previously recognised.

Groups are kept small so you are supported throughout, and there is nothing you need to bring other than some clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.
